Diesel Particulate Filter(DPF)

Removal of particulate matter from diesel exhaust by physical filtration. There are many filter types available, but the most common type is ceramic (cordierite or silicon carbide) honeycomb monolithic.

The structure is similar to the discharge catalyst substrate, but the channel is blocked at the alternate end. Therefore, the exhaust gas must flow through the walls between the channels, and particulate matter (PM) is deposited on the walls.

Dpf Diesel Particulate Filter for solid matter filtration efficiency is greater than 99%. Since diesel particulate matter has a non-solid part, its overall efficiency is less than >90%.

All particulate filter systems include some means of regeneration.

The capacity of any filter is limited. If diesel particulate filters (DPF) are not clogged, they must be cleaned intermittently or continuously. This is most important because an over-full filter can damage the engine due to excessive exhaust back pressure and can itself be damaged or destroyed.
